What is the difference between a modular and a bespoke walkway?
A modular walkway uses standard-dimension sections that connect to form a route. It is economical for straight, unobstructed spans. A bespoke walkway is designed to fit a specific geometry, level changes, branching routes, obstacle bridging, transitions to stairs or ladders, or unusual span dimensions. The selection is made during the design phase based on your route and site constraints.
What load rating do custom walkway systems carry?
AS 1657 walkways are designed to the 2.5 kPa uniform distributed load standard as a minimum. Higher load ratings are available where machinery movement or elevated storage is part of the walkway function. Load requirements are confirmed during the survey and engineering phase and documented in the compliance plate.
Can custom walkways include stair access, ladders and level changes?
Yes. Custom walkway systems are typically engineered as complete access routes rather than isolated spans. Stair access, ladder drops, transition modules for level changes and junction points for branching routes are all designed within the same project.
