Star Aluminium Ladder Cages and Guardrails

  • Star aluminium ladder cage systems provide complete fall protection for personnel accessing elevated areas including rooftops, mezzanines and elevated plant infrastructure within industrial, manufacturing and infrastructure environments. The circular cage body maintains WHS-compliant clearances at all heights, preventing backward falls while guiding the climber safely to the upper landing.
  • Modular cage bodies and components allow systems to be configured to suit the specific access height and site layout, with adjustable landing platform options enabling smooth transitions between the ladder, the landing and the work area above. Heavy-duty aluminium rungs are evenly spaced to provide a consistent climbing rhythm. The system integrates with guardrail sections at upper landings, where 1,000 mm handrails with high-traction anti-slip grating provide ongoing edge protection. Mounting flanges anchor the system to the floor structure for full structural stability.
  • Each ladder cage system is supplied with an engineer-certified compliance plate. Optional lockable hatches and entry gates allow access to be controlled and secured when the ladder is not in use. All systems are backed by a Lifetime Structural Warranty. Custom configurations are available for non-standard access heights and site layouts.

Aftercare & Maintenance

  • All Star Aluminium products are designed and manufactured to Australian Standards for height access and industrial equipment.
  • Every unit is supplied with a compliance plate and engineering certification.
  • Our standard products comply with WHS requirements and carry a Lifetime Structural Warranty.
  • Every month, we recommend that you inspect every working unit to make sure they are safe for use.
  • Check the unit's surface and weld points in order to ensure there is no external damage or corrosion from weather conditions that can cause a safety issue.
  • If any damage is found on the equipment when checking your monthly inspection routine, please mark the equipment as "out of service" and call us so we may discuss what needs to be repaired.

Frequently Asked Questions

What height ranges do your ladder cage systems cover?

Standard ladder cage systems are configured for ladder heights of 1 m to 6 m in both 70 degree and 90 degree configurations, with cage height brackets spanning 1,960 mm to 6,839 mm for 70 degree ladders and 2,001 mm to 7,200 mm for 90 degree ladders. Custom heights are available for non-standard access requirements.

Do your ladder cage systems include engineer certification?

Yes. Each ladder cage system is supplied with an engineer-certified compliance plate, supporting WHS site documentation requirements and demonstrating compliance with applicable Australian Standards.

What is the difference between a 70 degree and 90 degree ladder cage?

The angle refers to the inclination of the fixed ladder within the cage. A 70 degree ladder provides a less steep climb with a longer travel length. A 90 degree (vertical) ladder has a shorter plan footprint and is commonly used where floor space is constrained. Both configurations provide the same circumferential fall protection.

Can ladder cage systems be configured with lockable access controls?

Optional lockable hatches and entry gates are available to restrict access and secure the ladder when not in use. This is particularly relevant for industrial plants, substations and facilities where controlled access is required.

Are your ladder cage systems compliant with Australian Standards?

Yes. Star Aluminium ladder cage systems are manufactured to comply with applicable Australian and New Zealand Standards for fixed ladders and fall protection, and are supplied with an engineer-certified compliance plate confirming conformance.
