What Powdercoating Is
A free-flowing dry powder applied electrostatically and cured at elevated temperature. The result is tougher, more durable and more corrosion-resistant than liquid paint, with no solvent flash or bleed risk.
In-house powder coating across commercial, industrial and domestic finishes, durable, corrosion-resistant colour applied under an ISO 9001 quality system.

Formerly Associated Powdercoating, Star Powder Coating is part of the Star group of companies and has been delivering finishing services to Australian businesses for more than 30 years from its Dandenong South facility. The same in-house team that fabricates Star Aluminium access equipment handles every coating job, which keeps the finish accountable to the same quality standards as the structural product.
Powdercoating is a free-flowing dry powder applied electrostatically and cured under heat to form a finish that is significantly tougher and more corrosion-resistant than conventional liquid paint. Because there is no solvent involved, the coating cures without the bleed, sagging or solvent flash that affects spray paint finishes, and the surface holds up against UV, weather, chemical exposure and high-traffic wear over the long term.
The Dandenong South facility runs three powder coating lines with a maximum job envelope of 5.8 m × 2.4 m × 2 m, covering everything from shop fittings, electrical components and automotive parts (bull-bars, wheels) through to large structural sections of the Star Aluminium access range. Re-coating is available for rejuvenation work where existing finishes have aged or been damaged.
Four areas of focus across the powder coating capacity.

Three powder coating lines at the Dandenong South facility. Maximum job size: 5.8 m × 2.4 m × 2 m, large enough for full structural sections of access equipment.
Shop fittings, electrical components, automotive (bull-bars, wheels, lighting), cupboards and a wide variety of fabricated products. Re-coating available to rejuvenate existing finishes.
The same team that manufactures Star Aluminium access equipment handles the powder coating, so the coating quality is accountable to the same ISO 9001 system as the structural product.
Star Aluminium offers a range of commercial, industrial and domestic powder coat finishes including gloss, semi-gloss, matte and textured options. Colours can be matched to custom specifications. A colour selection guide is available on request.
The Dandenong South facility accommodates items up to 5.8 m long by 2.4 m wide by 2 m high. This is sufficient for full-length structural sections of access equipment including stair stringers, platform frames and handrail assemblies.
Powder coating is applied electrostatically and cured under heat, producing a finish that is tougher, more corrosion-resistant and more UV-stable than conventional liquid paint. No solvent is involved, so the finish does not bleed, sag or lose adhesion through solvent flash.
Yes. The powder coating service is available for both new fabrication and refurbishment of existing equipment. Existing equipment must be clean and free of oil, heavy corrosion or loose coatings before coating. The team can advise on pre-treatment requirements.
Powder coating at Star Aluminium is conducted under the same ISO 9001:2015 quality management system as the manufacturing operation. The coating team is in-house, ensuring the finish quality is accountable to the same standards as the structural product.
