Custom Work Platforms for Genie/Terex – Tailored Access for Service Teams

Star Aluminium recently partnered with the Genie/Terex teams in Australia and Korea to supply a combination of adjustable work platforms and a purpose-built modular service platform designed to support their national servicing and maintenance programs. The project brought together practical workshop experience and engineered design to create access systems that fit the way their technicians actually work.

Why Adjustable Work Platforms Were the Right Fit

Servicing machines with varying heights and access points requires platforms that can be positioned quickly and safely. Our Adjustable Work Platforms offered the flexibility their teams needed—easy to move, simple to set up and stable enough for day-to-day service tasks. These units allow technicians to reach inspection points comfortably without relying on makeshift solutions or heavier steel equipment that is harder to manoeuvre.

Aluminium construction also means less maintenance, no rust issues and better handling in busy workshop environments.

A Modular Service Platform Designed for Their Fleet

Alongside the adjustable platforms, Genie/Terex required a service platform built around the footprint of their equipment. Using our modular design approach, we developed a configuration that:

  • fits comfortably around key service areas

  • provides stable access on multiple sides

  • includes secure handrails and durable decking

  • can be adapted if procedures or equipment layouts change

The design draws on principles used in our Modular Access Platforms, making the platform suitable for relocation or integration into different workshop setups.

Engineered for Practical, Everyday Use

Workshops and service bays can be demanding—tight schedules, equipment constantly on the move and changing service priorities. Every component in the system was designed with daily practicality in mind. The platforms are light enough to shift easily, strong enough for continuous industrial use and stable across a variety of operating conditions.

For additional height access or confined maintenance points, our Aluminium Ladder Platforms often complement these systems and give technicians more flexibility depending on the task.

A Practical, Hands-On Approach to Getting the Design Right

Instead of moving straight from drawings to fabrication, we spent time observing how the equipment was serviced and how technicians naturally positioned themselves around the machines. Those real-world habits shaped the design more than any formal brief. Along the way we made several small adjustments—slight height changes, clearer step-in points and more comfortable working angles—so the platform supported their workflow rather than forcing them to work around it.

Supporting Operations Across Different Sites

Once the platforms were rolled out, they were used in a variety of workshop layouts, each with its own constraints and service routines. Because the system is lightweight and easy to reposition, teams could set it up in a way that suited their space without needing to alter existing processes. The intention was straightforward: provide access equipment that helps people get on with the job, not equipment that adds unnecessary steps.

For other tailored designs, our Custom Access Solutions showcase a range of project-specific builds.
